Ever bought something because of friend’s gushing praise, or a glowing online review?
Buyers today depend on the experiences of others to help them make purchase decisions. And companies need skilled writers to help them interview and capture their customers’ success stories. Then, you transform these interviews into powerful case studies that showcase the benefits your client delivers.
Customer case studies “make the case” for buying a company’s products or services.

Companies are eager to find strong case study writers
Nearly every business has happy customers. To get more customers, they need to trumpet those successes.
But it’s not easy to find writers who know how to ask the right questions and craft compelling case studies.
I’m Casey Hibbard. For 15 years, I’ve been writing customer case studies. I have more than 1,000 stories under my belt. Every project is unique and fun. And each case study gives my clients proof points to champion their products and services to new customers. Case studies are in demand and pay well because they help make more sales — and you get to be the hero who makes that happen.
The demand for this type of work is high, but the supply of writers who can deliver isn’t. The timing is right for you to grow your business by offering this service.
I’ll walk you through my approach in just 4 weeks so you can…
- Know which interview questions to ask that will elicit what prospects want to know
- Craft engaging customer stories that sell for your clients
- Make a plan for marketing this in-demand writing skill
Each week of this Bootcamp, you’ll build and grow your skills. We’ll start by laying a strong foundation. Then I’ll teach you the art of conducting an interview. You’ll learn how to bring it altogether into an effective, engaging case study. And you’ll discover the best way to find clients who are in desperate need of this service. Here’s how it breaks down week by week.
Week 1: Case Study Basics
We start with the big picture: the what, when, where and why of creating and using case studies.
- What is a case study?
- What does a strong case study look like?
- Why do companies need them?
- How do organizations use a completed case study?
- Anatomy of a case study
- The case study process and how you, the writer, fits in
By the end of this session, you’ll have a full understanding of what a case study is, how it’s structured, and when it will provide the most benefit to your client.
Week 2: Gathering the Key Pieces
Next, we dive into the steps to gather all the key pieces of information from your client and their happy customers. During this session, you’ll discover:
- 4 things to do before ever interviewing a customer
- How to get customers to share the most compelling parts of their stories
- The art of getting and presenting measurable results
- Interviewing do’s and don’ts every case study writer has to know
Week 3: Writing Your Case Study
This week, we’ll bring it all together. You’ll learn how to take your raw information and turn it into a compelling story that sells for your client. The secrets I reveal include:
- Traits of case studies that compel and sell
- What must be in case studies – and what shouldn’t be
- How to write for readers and skimmers
- Crafting compelling customer quotes
Week 4: How to Get Case Study Clients
Now that you know how to conduct an effective interview and write a compelling case study, it’s time to sell your case study services. In this session, join me to learn:
- The types of companies that need case studies
- How to price these projects
- What to say to prospective clients to make your service irresistible
When you join us, here’s what you get:
- 4 live webinars, each with Q&A time, to make sure all your questions are answered
- Handouts to support you on every project
- 1-month membership in Freelance Writers Den
- Bootcamp chat forums for your questions and case study homework

Carol Tice
Hi there — I’m Carol Tice, founder of the Freelance Writers Den and author of the Make a Living Writing blog. I’ve written a few case studies, for companies ranging from Microsoft to a mergers-and-acquisitions firm to an employees’ union. But Casey’s knowledge in this niche far exceeds mine, so I’ll be hosting her and letting her share her experience — and hoping to pick up a few case study tips myself!
